Day 1 – Bucharest
Arrival at Otopeni International Airport; meet and greet – transfer to hotel for accomodation; walking guided discover tour and dinner (if flight schedule permits).
Day 2 – Bucharest – C.Arges – Sibiu (300 km)
After breakfast, city tour of the capital, incl. famous open air Village Museum or People’s House (the 2nd largest building after the Pentagon); departure to Transylvania via C.Arges, old capital of Walachia; visit the Episcopal Church (optional lunch); drive along the pictoresque Olt Valley to Sibiu, former Hermanstadt, preserved as a medieval burg; guided tour of the city (Great Square, Evangelique Church, Bridge of the Liars, The Council Tower); dinner and accommodation.
Day 3 – Sibiu – Sighisoara – Tg. Mures – Bistrita – Drakula’s Castle (300 km)
The day starts with a visit of Bruckenthal Museum with its fine collection of paintings, engravings, ethnography and folklore, old furniture and musical instruments; departure to Sighisoara, birthplace of Vlad the Impaler “Drakula”; visit of the medieval citadel, incl. Tower Clock (optional lunch); continue to Bistrita-Nasaud county, via Tg.Mures; dinner and accommodation in P.Fantanele in a medieval-like hotel, Dracula’s Castle.
Day 4 – Drakula’s Castle – G.Humor/Suceava – Bukovina area (290 km)
Breakfast; departure to Bukovina area, the region of the painted monasteries (UNESCO heritage); arrival in G.Humorului/Suceava; continue on the route of the painted monasteries (MOLDOVITA, SUCEVITA) and the unique monastery VORONET, “the Sistine chapel of the Orient” (optional lunch, en route); continue to G.Humor/ Suceava for dinner and accommodation.
Day 5 – G.Humor/Suceava – P.Neamt – Bacau – Focsani – Tulcea – Murighiol (500 km)
Early departure for short visit of the beautiful monasteries from Neamt county – VARATEC, AGAPIA, with its carpet and icon workshops (optional – stop in P.Neamt for lunch); continue, via Bacau, to Tulcea, the gate to Danube Delta, the paradise of flora and fauna, unique in Europe; drive to Murighiol to embark on motorship to Cormoran/Uzlina or similar, in the middle of the Delta; dinner and accommodation.
Day 6 – Danube Delta
After breakfast, we start the trip with the motor boat along the channels of the Danube Delta; time for fish lunch optional; sightseeing throughout one of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites, a paradise of birds and water-lilies, home of many rare species; dinner and accommodation.
Day 7 – Murighiol – Tulcea – Bucharest (340 km)
Breakfast; return by boat to Murighiol; drive to Bucharest and individual visit & time for shopping; farewell dinner and accommodation.
If the flight schedule permits, individual visit of Bucharest; transfer to the airport.
