Day 1 – Bucharest
Arrival at Otopeni International Airport; meet and greet – transfer to hotel; walking tour and dinner (as per flight schedule).
Day2 – Bucharest – Sinaia – Bran – Brasov (240 km)
Breakfast, city tour of the capital, incl. open air Village Museum or People’s House (the 2nd largest building after the Pentagon); departure to Sinaia resort, across the Carpathian Mountains; visit the famous Peles Castle, former residence of royal families or Sinaia Monastery (1695) (time for lunch); drive to Bran to visit Drakula’s Castle; to Brasov; accomm. and dinner in a typical restaurant.
Day 3 – Brasov – Sibiu – Alba Iulia – Cluj Napoca (320 km)
Walking tour in the old center of Brasov, including Black Church (14-15th c.), the picturesque Schei quartier, the first Romanian school; drive to Sibiu ( Hermanstad)t; city tour of medieval city (Great Square, Evangelique Church, Bridge of the Liars, The Council Tower); visit Bruckenthal Museum, fine collection of paintings, engravings, ethnography-folklor, musical instruments (time for lunch);to Cluj-Napoca; dinner and accommodation.
Day 4 – Cluj-Napoca – Baia Mare (160 km)
Breakfast; walking tour, including the National Art Museum, the National Theatre, St. Michael Cathedral (time for lunch); continue to Baia Mare, the heart of Maramures, a unique region with distinctive traditions, folklore and culture; dinner and accommodation.
Day 5 – Maramures – G.Humor/Suceava (370 km)
After breakfast, visit of the country sides of Maramures: the unique Merry Cemetery of Sapanta, a world-wide attraction – the graves have colorful drawings and inscriptions, illustrating the lives of the deceased people; Sighetul Marmatiei and the famous 14th century wooden churches – Stramtura, Rozavlea, Bogdan Voda, Ieud (time for lunch); continue to Bukovina area, region of painted monasteries (UNESCO heritage), via Prislop Pass; short stop in Ciprian Porumbescu village – birthplace of famous Romanian composer; dinner and accommodation in G.Humor/Suceava.
Day 6 – Bukovina area – painted monasteries (UNESCO) ( 140 km)
Breakfast; departure to visit the monasteries, with exterior frescoes (MOLDOVITA, SUCEVITA, HUMOR) and VORONET, “the Sistine chapel of the Orient” (time for lunch); return to G.Humor/ Suceava for dinner and accommodation.
Day 7 – G.Humor/Suceava – P.Neamt – Bacau – Focsani – Buc (490 km)
After breakfast, departure to visit the beautiful monasteries of Neamt county – VARATEC, AGAPIA, with its carpet and icon workshops (time for lunch); drive to Bacau and Focsani, to Bucharest; farewell dinner and accommodation.
If the flight schedule permits, individual visit / shopping time in Bucharest; transfer to the airport.
